Renovator’s Heaven [Free Verse Sonnet Remix]

by Phillip Ellis

Colin Feels Beads to Order

————————–

Flush of sweat, although he’s staring with such

blank horror. He, Colin’s mouth is rank from

all that coffee. Here they are, tipped sideways

into perfect. He tries the left, sagging,

in the process of vision as he hurries

down there, seeing timber unthinkable.

Colin hammers, under the suspect flap,

cards, and he’s in them thinking it over.

He’s considering the suspect flap. Rust,

put in getting them right ends Sunday that

he’d come. That would be what he can’t work; you

had, like as not, in Colin’s experience,

the work a metre: he knows that for a

fact, and his thing that lies sprawling on floorboards.
